Monthly Spotlight on Movie Posters

Road to Hong Kong Every month this section spotlights a different movie poster which shows high artistic and marketing merit. Here is "Road to Hong Kong" starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Joan Collins and Dorothy Lamour. Nifty artwork abounds in this delightful poster. This was Bing and Bob's last "Road" picture and features brief appearances by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, as well as Peter Sellers as a strange doctor.

Plot: After traveling to Tibet to cure Hope's amnesia, the boys become involved with a spy (Joan Collins), who acquaints them with scientists intent on taking over space with a secret rocket fuel formula. Hope gets a look at the formula and memorizes it instantly. But the scientists get wise and kidnap the boys. The strange plot continues with Lamour helping them escape from the evil-doers.

Trivia: This was the film that Lamour liked the least among all the "Road" films as she was given a only a bit part in the movie, while Joan Collins got the plum co-starring role. This movie had some funny scenes, but many of the jokes reference earlier "Road" pictures.
